6. Are there any thermal performance ratings I should be aware of when selecting bi-fold or sliding glass doors?
Yes, look for the U-value rating, which measures how well a door prevents heat from escaping. The lower the U-value, the better the insulation. Our bi-fold and sliding glass doors are _________.
7. What are the differences between bi-fold and sliding glass doors?
Bi-fold doors fold back in sections or panels, while sliding doors move horizontally along a track and do not fold. Bi-fold doors can be opened completely, creating a wide opening, whereas sliding doors only open as far as their panels can slide behind each other. Sliding doors can be completely hidden by creating a pocket in the framing to hide inside a wall.
8. What are the maximum dimensions available for bi-fold and sliding glass doors?
- The maximum height for both bi-fold door panels and sliding doors is 10 feet. Width for bi-fold doors is any size desired, however multislide doors aren’t typically more than 20 ft wide due to the width of the track needed to accommodate each panel. If you need something special, please feel free to contact us.
